Professional Installation

firas.jpg

FIRAS is a certification scheme for companies installing fire protection products and systems.

No matter how good a product is, poorly installed its fire protection performance can be severely reduced.

We are certified installers of fire doors and shutters. Proper installation of fire shutter assemblies and door sets is fundamental to their overall performance. Firas

Modes of activation

Fire Alarm Relay - Solenoid Release

On receipt of a 24 v signal from the fire alarm the solenoid releases the motor brake, which in turn allows the shutter to close mechanically under controlled descent.

As a standard Guardian FM240 fire shutters come with an auto resetting solenoid.

Fuseible Link Release

On activation the link, which is a soldered link, separates and releases at 68 degrees centigrade, in effect the temperature release of the link creates a signal to the relay which in turn powers the door down.

Again if there is no facility for a maintained supply the battery back up unit must be used.

Fire Door Interface (FDI)

In order to introduce safety into the system an FDI panel can be installed.

This includes an audio and visual warning.

Timed delay closing

Principally this unit is designed to delay the closing of the fire shutter; the fire alarm is linked to the audio visual unit.

On activation from the fire alarm the unit starts to “flash & sound”, this unit contains a programmable timer which effectively delays the signal to the solenoid release.

This unit is inclusive of a 24v DC battery backup system, which enables the unit to be linked into the fire alarm system by a set of volt free contacts.

Why have your door and shutter systems maintained?

  • It is a legal requirement - as failure to show evidence of maintenance could mean prohibition & enforcement notices being served and fines up to £5000 and imprisonment for 2 years. 'Safety In Use', the New European CEN Standards legislation - States that all types of door should be maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair. For further clarification visit www.dhfonline.org.uk.
  • Routine maintenance prolongs the operational life of the installation and ensures that the installation is kept in good working order.
  • It ensures that the door is working in a safe and efficient condition - helping to prevent accidents and damage which in turn results in down time, effecting work flow, productivity and resulting in loss of revenue.
  • It assists in identifying potential problems which can easily be rectified.
