Fire Resistant Sliding Door
The fire-resistant sliding door is an excellent solution for situations where high fire-resistant is required combined with specific end user design needs.
The maximum fire-resistant will depend on the size and model of the door, ranges up to 90 minutes (for the EI(1) requirement), based on two-sided testing in accordance with EN 1634-1, or 120 minutes (for the EI(2) and EW requirements).
The sliding door can optionally be manufactured as a double wing sliding door, with both wings sliding in the same direction or away from each other, or as a telescopic sliding door, with several wings sliding parallel with each other. A unique feature of this door is the option to integrate it with an emergency exit door, without a threshold, thereby allowing the fire-resistant sliding door to be incorporated into a building’s emergency escape route.
The fire-resistant sliding door comes standard as a manually operated door fitted with a speed controller and integrated magnetic door catch. However, the sliding door can optionally be fitted with an electric drive system. The sliding doors can also be fitted with a special drive and motion detectors to make the doors suitable for high frequency use.
The fire-resistant sliding door has successfully undergone two-sided smoke resistance testing at Efectis Nederland in accordance with EN 1634-3 at both Sa 20 (cold smoke at approx. 20 degrees Celsius) and Sm 200 (hot smoke at approx. 200 degrees Celsius).
- Steel tube frame bonded to the fire resistant plating

The primary activation method for fire shutters is via the main fire alarm system. The signal from the fire alarm is routed via one of the below control units, giving the shutter a command to close.
In situations where there is no main fire alarm panel we can provide a standalone system that activates the fire alarm via one of the methods below as indicated with a * (please note for a standalone system an Audio Visual FDI panel is required).
Planned preventative maintenance
It is a legal requirement - as failure to show evidence of maintenance could mean prohibition & enforcement notices being served and fines up to £5000 and imprisonment for 2 years. 'Safety In Use' - the New European CEN Standards legislation - states that all types of door should be maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair. For further clarification visit www.dhfonline.org.uk.
Routine maintenance prolongs the operational life of the installation and ensures that the installation is kept in good working order - helping to prevent accidents and damage which in turn results in down time, effecting work flow, productivity and resulting in loss of revenue. It assists in identifying potential problems which can easily be rectified.
